Christopher J. Kratochvil, M.D.
Dr. Chris Kratochvil is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Research and Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at UNMC, as well as Chief Medical Officer of UNeHealth. UNeHealth is a not-for-profit partnership facilitating clinical research opportunities between UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center. The goal of UNeHealth is to streamline various aspects of clinical research, with a focus on the growth of industry-funded clinical research. Dr. Kratochvil is currently working to develop strategic partnerships with clinical research organizations and pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Kratochvil received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Creighton University, completing his psychiatry residency at the Creighton-Nebraska Residency Program and his child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. His own research has primarily targeted the pharmacotherapy of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and depression.
He has conducted NIH-funded clinical research, including a Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K-23), as well as Phase II-IV industry-funded research. He served on an NIMH Initial Review Group from 2004-2009.
Dr. Kratochvil has authored or co-authored over 100 manuscripts, and recently co-edited Pediatric Psychopharmacology: Principles and Practice, 2nd Edition, Oxford Press, 2011
Additionally he has a long history of work in regulatory aspects of clinic research. He served as Vice-Chair of the UNMC IRBs 2002-2010, Consultant to UNMC & Children’s IRBs 2010-present, and has served on multiple Data Safety Monitoring Boards 2003-present.
In 2008 he was named a Distinguished Scientist, University of Nebraska Medical Center.
