Lynne Niemeyer and Tina Curry, who work in biochemistry and molecular biology, said they were happy to be at the celebration. “Everyone here does a good job and makes the department shine, but often they don’t get recognized,” Niemeyer said. “That’s what makes this event so special,” Curry said.

Administrative Professionals Day celebration Friday was a big success, with 68 people attending the breakfast and about 210 people attending the lunch. The celebration was sponsored by the UNMC Employee Growth Advocacy Development Organization (EGAD).

Charlene Tate, business and finance services, has organized and hosted the event for the past four years.

“I like putting this event on. It shows the administrative people extra appreciation. It gives them another pat on the back for all their hard work. This event helps me to step out and do something for them and its helps me grow,” Tate said.

Capiz Greene, the main luncheon speaker, presented “Unleashing Your Communication Greatness: Cooperation, Collaboration and Communication.”

Janis Bruner, a secretary in oncology/hematology, told Capiz Greene how she looks forward to this event every year. “I’ve worked here 37 years and we didn’t have this for a long time. It’s nice to be recognized,” Bruner said.
