Wellness Wednesday – Orthopaedic hospital runners clinic set for March 20

The NOH Runners Clinic begins at 9 a.m. and features speakers who will focus on topics that relate specifically to the running community.












About the hospital



Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital — which opened in 2004 — is the only orthopaedic specialty hospital of its kind in the state of Nebraska.

The hospital — which is at 144th and W. Center Road in Omaha — is a partnership between 27 orthopaedic surgeons and UNMC’s hospital partner — The Nebraska Medical Center.




The featured speaker is Melissa Todd, Ph.D., a sports psychologist who currently heads an intensive outpatient program at a psychiatric hospital part‐time, which allows her to focus on her career in competitive running.

Dr. Todd completed two and a half years of applied training and experience in sport psychology and biofeedback at Kansas State University, where she worked with NCAA Division I athletes, teams and coaches. She is a six‐time NCAA Division III All‐American and 1997 National Champion at 1,500 meters.

John Galligan, M.D., and Michael Thompson, M.D., orthopaedic surgeons at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital, also will present on running injuries and injury prevention.

Other speakers include:

  • Ann Ringlein, local running coach and owner of The Lincoln Running Company;
  • Christy Nielsen, physical therapist at NOH and three‐time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier; and
  • Liz Wright, certified massage therapist and owner of Massage and Bodywork in Omaha.
