Joslyn to host a free member’s event for ‘The Glory of Ukraine’

UNMC employees are invited to preview “The Glory of Ukraine” exhibition at Joslyn Art Museum on Friday, Feb. 11.

Partnership note

The event is offered through the Passport Partners program, which provides free museum admission for medical center employees, students, and their immediate family with a valid identification badge, while also offering lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.

What: Spanning two distinct and rarely seen collections, “The Glory of Ukraine” is a two-part exhibition that forms an unprecedented celebration of the spiritual and national treasures of this large eastern European nation. Icons and other religious objects from the famous churches, cathedrals, bell towers and underground caverns of the nearly 1,000-year-old Monastery of the Caves join artifacts of ancient civilizations from the private PlaTar collection for a visually rich and historically intriguing presentation. Joslyn is the only museum in the U.S. to display both components of “The Glory of Ukraine” exhibition.

When: 5:30 to 8 p.m. An exhibition overview with executive director and CEO of Joslyn Art Museum, Jack Becker, Ph.D., starts at 6 p.m. A cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres follows the overview.

Other notes: During the preview, the museum gift shop and cafe will be open for any food or gift purchases. UNMC employees do receive a member discount at both.

RSVP: Contact reservations@joslyn.org by Feb. 7 if you are able to attend.
