The appointment of Jennifer Larsen, M.D., as UNMC’s new vice chancellor for research was approved Friday by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
The COPH now will offer one-year certificate programs in emergency preparedness and infectious disease epidemiology. The programs will bolster the expertise level of Nebraska’s public health workforce.

Dr. Larsen, currently associate vice chancellor for clinical research, will take over as vice chancellor for research on July 1.

She will step in for Tom Rosenquist, Ph.D., who will step down after leading UNMC’s research enterprise since 1999 to return to the faculty in the department of genetics, cell biology and anatomy.
