Explore public health career choices during UNMC open house Nov. 30

Career choices in public health will be explored during an open house at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health on Friday, Nov. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Maurer Center for Public Health, 519 S. 40th Plaza Circle.

The event provides prospective students, pre-health advisors and career counselors with an understanding of the field of public health and the education and research programs in the UNMC College of Public Health. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with public health leadership, faculty, researchers and current students. 

Public Health is the science of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Public health is focused on protecting the health of entire populations.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the establishment of the College of Public Health in July 2006. The college has grown dramatically each year, with sharp increases in research funding, student enrollment, and new instructional programs.
