Wellness Wednesday – Strength training tips plus a spring charity bike tour

While the UNMC Winter Decathlon continues, here are two more wellness activities to mark on your calendar.

TriExercise Series – Resistance & Strength Training
When: Thursday, Feb. 21 at noon
Where: Durham Outpatient Center fourth floor, Olson Center Classroom
What: Lincoln Murdoch, USAT International and National champion, ultramarathon finisher, endurance coach and pastor, returns to triexercise with more training tips and stories. Murdoch will focus on how resistance and strength training can help you whether you are training for a race or for a healthy life. Call 402-559-6345 to register. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Note: Thursday’s triexercise presentation will be canceled if Omaha-area schools close for inclement weather.

Bike for Sight
When: April 27 at 9 a.m.
Where: Miller’s Landing on the downtown Omaha riverfront
What: The charity bike tour raises awareness and funds to support a vision restoring cataract camp in Addis, Ethiopia. For every registered rider, UNMC’s International Division of Ophthalmology will perform one free cataract surgery on a patient living needlessly blind in Ethiopia.
Who: Both casual and serious riders of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the non-competitive format. Choose your course distance with five-, 10-, 20- and 40-mile options available.
Pre-register: For more information or to pre-register, visit www.bikeforsight.org. Registration is $20 per person.
