Colleagues asked to take short survey

Earlier this month, a new department within Nebraska Medicine, the Office of Health Professions Education, was introduced. Its goal is to align the educational and clinical missions of Nebraska Medicine and UNMC as well as our regional and community partners.

Please complete this three-question survey, indicating your perception of the overall learning experience at Nebraska Medicine.

All colleagues throughout the enterprise are learners, and regardless of role, we seek to improve our work every day. Our work, however, is significantly impacted by the learning environment around us. Evidence shows that the future outcomes of learners regarding quality and costs of care are influenced by the learning environment in which that person is trained.

The OHPE wants to know your opinion of the current learning environment presented by Nebraska Medicine. We ask you to take part in this three-question survey. The confidential answers will be used by the OHPE as a baseline measurement of our learning environment. Moving forward, the OHPE will help lead initiatives designed to improve the overall learning experience for all Nebraska Medicine and UNMC colleagues.

What the heck is a learning environment? What has it got to do with costs of care? Who are colleagues in the "enterprise"? This is not communicative English to many of us. Should I be someone taking the survey if I don't understand what it is about? (30 years on campus; not a neophyte) If you mean everyone on campus should have input, say so, please.
