IT rolls out new voicemail system

As work continues to move all phone numbers to 10-digit dialing and into one network, a new Applied Voice & Speech Technologies (AVST) voicemail system also is being implemented. The new voicemail system is replacing the Intuity Audix voicemail.

“Intuity Audix has served the organization well, but Intuity Audix is at its end of life,” said Frank Plummer, manager of telecommunications. “AVST runs on virtual servers which improves reliability, increases storage, improves efficiency and lowers the cost of ownership.”

In addition to a light on your phone notifying you when you have a voicemail, the AVST system also can send the voicemail notification to your email.

Implementation is occurring in waves, as some may have already received email notification from an IT colleague about the change and are using the new system. If you have not received an email, one will be on its way between now and June 30.

See conversion schedule.

“The AVST telephone user interface is similar, but not identical to Intuity Audix, so users will have some familiarity with the application,” Plummer said.

When you receive the email about the voicemail change, you have one week to log into AVST to change the default password and record your greetings.

How to access the new system:

  • Dial 9-0200, or 402-559-0200 if your area has been converted to 10-digit dialing.
  • Your subscriber voicemail box number is your complete 10-digit telephone number.
  • Your default password is 1357901. Be prepared to change your password the first time you log in.

If you have questions, or are experiencing problems with the new AVST voicemail set up, call 402-559-2225 or the IT Help Desk at 9-7700.
