Dr. Nuss named to VNA board of directors

Sue Nuss, Ph.D., chief nursing officer for Nebraska Medicine and vice president of operations at Bellevue Medical Center, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA).

James Summerfelt, president and CEO of the VNA, said, "Sue is a perfect fit for the VNA board. With more than 37 years of nursing experience, including 25 years in pediatric oncology and 10 years in nursing administration, her leadership will be a great asset. We are thrilled to have her join us."

In 2017, Dr. Nuss was named associate dean for Nebraska Medicine Nursing for the UNMC College of Nursing as a way to strengthen the academic-clinical partnership between Nebraska Medicine and the UNMC College of Nursing. This type of collaborative relationship has been part of a national movement spurred on by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to strengthen academic-clinical partnerships to advance student education, promote nursing research, and engage faculty and staff in joint activities.

The VNA board oversees a team of more than 400 expert health care professionals and caregivers.

The mission of the VNA is to foster a healthy, thriving community by providing expert and compassionate care to all — no matter their station in life — serving each client's ever-changing needs, always with a vision of how health care should be delivered next.
