Director’s message: So many reasons to be thankful

The Earth has turned its circle, and the seasons come and go. The holiday season is a good time to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year and the people who have helped them happen.

There is much to be thankful for at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

Renovations are currently under way at our new building, which we plan to open to the public in 2021. The building will enable us to better accomplish our mission of transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities and complex health needs and their families.

But the heart of MMI is the people. Our MMI faculty and staff are a dedicated group of professionals whose aim, whatever their role, is to positively impact the lives of the people and families we serve. Their commitment never wavers, and we are proud they have chosen to be part of MMI’s mission.

And we can’t forget our community partners and advocates, who make so much of our efforts possible. Through philanthropic support, collaboration, input and advice, they support the work of the institute. We are humbled by their dedication to the well-being and advancement of the people MMI serves.

Finally, we are thankful for the families who have allowed us to be a part of their lives. They trust us to help them; they permit us to share in their challenges and triumphs. We are so pleased to be part of their transformative journey.

Best wishes for a joyous holiday season,

Melonie Welsh
Community Engagement Director
