Hello to my Nebraska INBRE Family,

First, I hope all of you and your family have been safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic!

I always look forward to visiting the campuses each year and the changes to our daily lives first took hold for me when I had to conduct all the spring visits via Zoom. I want to thank the entire network for adapting so quickly.

The meetings were really productive and I enjoyed talking with the Scholars from their dorm rooms. One student, if I remember correctly, was in Hawaii!

Drs. Caplan and Soukup, as well as myself, waited as long as we could before having to call off the summer program. We know the importance of this time in the lab for our Scholars and were hoping for a breakthrough with the virus that never came to fruition.

I was happy that Dr. Caplan was able to still put together the Monday morning seminar series such that the Scholars could have some educational experience.

What happens going forward in the fall?

I know personally, my lab is still not up and running 100 percent, even after research has restarted over two months ago.

I can only imagine that each DRPP faculty member is in a different stage of productivity at this point in time, which will change with an outbreak on a campus once students return.

I would like to tell everyone in the network that the INBRE leadership will work with your every need to help us get through this pandemic.

I would just ask that everyone hold your heads high as I truly feel we will overcome this pandemic (hopefully sooner than later) and life can go back to what we know as NORMAL!

If you have any questions, please always feel free to contact me.
