Steven Yeh, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Steven Yeh, MD
  • Hometown: Houston, Texas
  • Title and department at UNMC/ Nebraska Medicine: Stanley Truhlsen Jr. Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology and director, retina and uveitis service, UNMC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Research/professional interests: As part of the growing department of ophthalmology/Truhlsen Eye Institute, my primary clinical interests involve the care of patients with uveitis, an inflammatory condition of the eye, which may be caused by infectious or noninfectious, autoimmune diseases. I also enjoy caring for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease and retinal surgical conditions to improve their vision health. Our research team’s interests include programs to understand the impact of Ebola, COVID-19, and emerging infectious diseases on the eye in the United States and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as immune mechanisms of disease and novel therapies for uveitis.

How I fell in love with ophthalmology: I appreciated the intricacies of ophthalmic medical care and surgical care, the science, and the ability to improve the precious gift of vision for patients of all ages.

UNMC is blessed to have Dr. Steven Yeh. Dr. Yeh was my doctor at Emory University Eye Clinic since 2014. I was diagnosed with Uveitis in 2006 and had went through so many doctors that I was not pleased with. Dr. Yeh took very good care of me. Dr. Yeh, much success at UNMC.
