Blanket-making drive will support at-risk youth

UNMC’s Fostering the Future organization, an Office of Community Engagement legacy project, is holding a blanket-making drive starting this week and running through Feb. 10.

The fleece tie blankets will go to two local non-profit organizations — Project Everlast and Project Harmony — and the Omaha Police Department to benefit at-risk youth in the community.

The Office of Community Engagement has blanket kits with instructions for faculty, staff and students who want to participate in the drive. Sign up online using this form.

Supplies can be picked up and and completed blankets dropped off at Williams Science Hall in the Office of Community Engagement, Suite 2.0.106. Finished blankets must be dropped off by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10.

Fostering the Future is a student-led, faculty-supported interprofessional organization at UNMC. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for at-risk youth and the health of the community by providing resources, education, leadership opportunities and impactful personal experiences to create healthy, positive and sustainable futures for everyone.
