The UNMC College of Medicine has announced the search committee that will lead a national search to recruit a new chair for the UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology.

The former chair, Merry Lindsey, PhD, left UNMC earlier this year. Rebekah Gundry, PhD, has been serving as interim chair since July.

Vimla Band, PhD, chair of the UNMC Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy, will lead the search committee.

“As the chair of the recruitment committee, I am extremely pleased with the composition of the committee with diverse expertise,” Dr. Band said. “This will help us recruit a nationally/internationally recognized leader in physiology to be the next chairperson of the UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology.”

Other committee members are:

  • Erika Boesen, PhD, UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology
  • Kaushik Patel, PhD, UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology
  • Pooneh Bagher, PhD, UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology
  • Iraklis Pipinos, MD, UNMC Department of Surgery
  • Ruxana Sadikot, MD, UNMC Department of Internal Medicine
