Recent grad honored as Menolascino outstanding student

Recent UNMC MD/PhD program graduate Brandon Lew, MD, PhD, was honored by the UNMC Department of Psychiatry with the Frank Menolascino Outstanding Student in Psychiatry Award.

This award is given each year to a graduating medical student based on interest in the field of psychiatry. Students must show excellent clinical skills demonstrated during the psychiatry clerkship, commitment to caring for those with mental illness and demonstration of leadership among their peers.

This award was established to honor Frank J. Menolascino, MD, an authority on mental health among persons with intellectual development disorders and developmental disabilities. He was the chairman of the departments of psychiatry for both UNMC and Creighton University.

Dr. Lew will continue his training as a resident in the Brown University/Butler Hospital’s psychiatry residency program. His long-term goal is to become a psychiatrist-neuroscientist.

Registration is required and will continue through June 2.

The first email will be sent on June 5. At the end of the four-part challenge, an evaluation will be sent along with the opportunity to enter a drawing for a Sodexo gift card (a winner from UNMC campuses outside of Omaha will receive a comparable gift card). Email Heather Brown with questions.
