U.S. News again ranks Nebraska Medical Center No. 1 in Nebraska

Nebraska Medical Center is the No. 1 rated hospital in the Omaha metro area and the state of Nebraska, again, according to U.S. News & World Report. In fact, it’s the 12th consecutive year the hospital has earned the designation.

Every year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide to develop its annual list of Best Hospitals. They look at things like clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience in developing these rankings.

In addition to the Nebraska Medical Center honor, the ear, nose and throat program achieved a national ranking. Three other specialties were listed as high performing. Those are:

  • Cancer
  • Gastroenterology and GI surgery
  • Orthopaedics

Twelve procedures and conditions were rated as high performing — the highest ranking possible:

  • Aortic valve surgery
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attack
  • Heart failure
  • Kidney failure
  • Knee replacement
  • Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma
  • Ovarian cancer surgery
  • Pneumonia
  • Prostate cancer surgery
  • Uterine cancer surgery

“Achieving ‘Best Hospital’ status doesn’t happen by accident,” said Nebraska Medicine CEO Jim Linder, MD. “It’s the result of all the hard work of all the incredibly talented people who work here. I’m proud to call each one of them my colleague and to congratulate them on continuing to provide such an incredibly high level of care to our patients.”
