Annual heart and vascular conference set for Sept. 29-30

The med center’s annual cardiovascular medicine conference, titled “2023 Heart and Vascular Conference: State of the Heart,” is scheduled for Sept. 29-30.

The in-person conference will be held at the Hilton Omaha, 1001 Cass St. The schedule is Friday, Sept. 29, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to noon.

Cardiovascular medicine is a rapidly advancing field with new medical therapies, devices and procedures emerging. It can be challenging for health care providers to stay up on the advancements. The conference will provide an overview of issues in the field of cardiovascular medicine, including:

  • Diagnosis and management of cardiomyopathies 
  • Advanced heart failure therapies 
  • Ischemic heart disease
  • Valvular and structural heart disease 
  • Management of aortic disease
  • Pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism and right heart failure
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Electrophysiology and advanced arrhythmias

This conference is being chaired by Adam Burdorf, DO, UNMC Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, and Brett Duncan, MD, UNMC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, in conjunction with the UNMC continuing education offices.

Registration for the conference costs $150 for physicians and $50 for other health care professionals. The deadline to register is Sept. 21.
