Health care worker wellness program launches in January

Registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses are invited to join the spring 2024 cohort of the Psychological First Aid and Whole Wellness Program, led by UNMC College of Public Health’s Center for Preparedness and Emergency Response Solutions and the UNMC College of Nursing.

The program runs Jan. 16 through April 23.

The fall 2023 program included health care workers from a variety of organizations across Nebraska. Participants included CEOs, chief nursing officers, facility directors, social workers, human resources personnel and registered nurses.

The 10-week series met bi-weekly and connected nurses and health care workers with experts and peers to improve their knowledge on reducing stress and improving wellness.

One participant shared: “I cannot thank you enough for this fabulous opportunity. I am a changed nurse after being part of the PFA and small group experience.”

An additional cohort is planned for fall 2024. Continued education is offered at no cost for RNs and APRNs.

This project is supported by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
