Regulatory affairs, IRB to offer virtual office hours

The UNMC Office of Regulatory Affairs and staff of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) will be offering virtual office hours over Zoom beginning in February.

Office hours will be offered according to the following schedule and broken down by these subjects:

  • Questions about such topics as human subjects research, the application process, types of human subjects research or federal and institutional regulations: The second Monday of each month from 9-10 a.m. and the fourth Thursday from 2-3 p.m.
  • Issues related to online Research Support System (RSS): The fourth Friday of each month from 2-3 p.m.

A more specific office hours schedule is available on this attached flyer.

Megan Berger, IRB analyst and education coordinator for the UNMC Office of Regulatory Affairs, said the regulatory affairs and IRB staff are aware that the process of applying for human subject research may at times be confusing and difficult.

Though email and phone communication work for most instances, Berger said, some researchers and staff may prefer more direct contact.

In an effort to make the staff as accessible as possible to study teams, the ORA and IRB scheduled office hours to provide an additional resource for asking questions.

The meeting link can be found on the IRB website and this attached flyer. A link for each meeting also will be emailed out to all study personnel on an active study on the day of each meeting.

If someone is unable to attend office hours but still has questions, the ORA and IRB staff are available via email or phone. If unsure who to contact, email this ORA/IRB email account to get connected.

Any questions regarding office hours can be directed to Megan Berger.
