Many ways available to support For the Greater Good

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are encouraging supporters to keep growing the momentum surrounding the second annual For the Greater Good on March 27-28.

The 24-hour giving day will offer supporters of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine an opportunity to unite and support a variety of critical areas, including departmental funds within Nebraska Medicine, dozens of unique UNMC scholarship funds and over 40 registered student organizations.

Donors can spark another successful For the Greater Good and potentially raise even more money for causes that matter to them by participating in a variety of challenges during the giving day.

  • Participate in the Labs of All Kinds challenge. Donors can share a picture of their research or their own four-legged friends by posting their photos on Instagram using the #ForTheGreaterGood hashtag. One winner will have $250 added to their donation.
  • Spread the word about For the Greater Good on social media channels using the #ForTheGreaterGood hashtag, and donors can potentially unlock $50 for the fund of their choice. Also, find this year’s announcement video by visiting the For the Greater Good website.
  • UNMC students can put their detective skills to the test by participating in a Mini Ellie Scavenger Hunt. Search for one of 10 plush Ellie labs hidden across UNMC’s Omaha campus during For the Greater Good. Each lab has its own gift value that donors can give to their preferred cause. If anyone finds an Ellie lab, post it to Instagram or X with the message “I found Ellie the Lab! #ForTheGreaterGood” and tag the @unmcfund.

Donors also can support a variety of area challenges to potentially unlock over $570,000 in additional funding from generous challenge donors, including a challenge in memory of longtime UNMC supporter Bill Scott sponsored by Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, which will provide an additional support toward the UNMC Student Scholarship Fund. James Linder, MD, CEO of Nebraska Medicine, also is sponsoring challenges for the UNMC College of Nursing and the Encompass program at Nebraska Medicine.

Visit For the Greater Good’s Challenges page to learn more about all the ways donors can amplify this year’s giving day.
