Registration open for UNMC breastfeeding conference

The 16th biennial Breastfeeding: Baby’s Natural Choice Conference will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Scott Conference Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Aksarben campus. Registration is open for the event.

This in-person conference will provide health care professionals with the knowledge to support mothers and babies during breastfeeding. 

Conference presentations will cover:

  • From Letdown to Letting Go: Dysphoric Milk Ejection and the Mental Health Effects of Weaning
  • Hidden Barriers: Thoughts and ‘Support’ That Undermine Breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding and Maternal Mental Health: Understanding the Impact of Psychiatric Medications on Mother and Infant
  • Weighing in on Breastfeeding and Obesity: Addressing Weight Bias in Lactation Care
  • Lactation in Private Practice
  • Understanding Food Protein Intolerance and Other Causes of Intestinal Malabsorption in Breastfed Babies

The keynote presenters will be national breastfeeding experts Kathleen Kendall-Tackett, PhD, with Texas Tech University, and Lindsay Lebin, MD, with University of Colorado.

This accredited continuing education activity is designed for physicians (OB/GYN, pediatric, and family medicine), nurses, lactation consultants, registered dietitians, medical nutrition therapists, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, breastfeeding advocates, social workers and students.

Registration is $125 for general registration or $50 for students with full-time verification. Registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and continuing education credit.
