The med center’s award-winning and now long-running “Operation Immunization” again will see UNMC pharmacy students administering flu vaccinations to the Omaha campus community free of charge, beginning Sept. 15 and running through Sept. 26. See sidebar information for days, times and location.
High-dose vaccines are available for those ages 65 and over. Please bring your UNMC ID. To ensure a spot at a preferred day and time, those seeking vaccines are encouraged to sign up for an appointment at this link.
A unique collaboration between the UNMC College of Pharmacy, student health, family medicine, employee health and the UNMC chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists, Operation Immunization has delivered more than 15,000 flu shots since 2017. Pharmacy students – pharmacist interns – administer the vaccines and run the clinics, learning clinical skills and workflow.
The project, which also serves as a research study, has been lauded nationally. It’s also become a back-to-school tradition at UNMC.
