Registration now is open for the 28th annual Omaha Women’s Health & Wellness Conference on Friday, Nov. 7. It will be held at the Scott Conference Center in Aksarben Village from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The conference will provide a variety of health education lectures and a health fair with exhibits from UNMC and Nebraska Medicine departments, clinics and programs. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Power of Wellbeing Starts with You.”
This conference will feature two main sessions:
- Priya Gearin, MD, and Sarah Fischer, PhD, assistant professors in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry, will present on how to navigate both internal and external barriers to living in alignment with values.
- Rachael Schmidt, DNP, assistant director for cancer education and screening with the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center’s Community Outreach and Engagement Office, will present on cancer screenings and prevention for Nebraska women.
The conference will have multiple breakout sessions. Breakout topics will include aikido and OCD, sleep in women, nutrition and childhood development, and skin care through the decades.
The health fair will be offered in the morning, including optional blood work and flu shots for an additional fee. Blood work options includes: Ferritin, vitamin D, comprehensive blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel l, lipid panel, glycohemoglobin A1C and thyroid stimulating hormone.
The conference is hosted by the Olson Center for Women’s Health, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Continuing education will be provided for nurses and social workers. Registration fees are $75 for the general public and $110 for nurses and social workers.
Registration closes on Friday, Oct. 31. There is no virtual component for the conference.
