Two virtual training sessions are scheduled on creating and remediating documents to meet federal accessibility requirements.

The training webinar will be offered at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and will be repeated at 11 a.m. Nov. 14. Attending one of the training sessions is mandatory for those who manage content on unmc.edu or the UNMC intranet (info.unmc.edu) as well as WordPress blogs and policy wikis.

The training also is open to anyone who works with documents that are made available to the public. Emailed documents also are subject to the federal requirements. For instance, a PowerPoint presentation that is emailed to a group of attendees after a conference must meet the accessibility requirements.

Training will cover tools that can be used for document accessibility. Document formats include Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Excel. Training is sponsored by the departments of strategic communication and information technology and will be presented by Siteimprove.
