UNMC is completing its conversion to new software programs for many human resources functions related to position descriptions, hiring and employee onboarding.

Carmen Sirizzotti, associate director of human resources for compensation, payroll and staffing, said that Firefly software is being used for position descriptions, while a new software, SuccessFactors, handles job posting and employee onboarding.

At UNMC, the new software replaces PeopleAdmin as part of an effort to streamline the software used across the University of Nebraska System and the Nebraska state colleges.

“This new system will allow users to search for jobs throughout the university system and the state colleges more easily,” Sirizzotti said. “I’m really appreciative of the PAF coordinators and others who have completed the training in the systems. Their investment in this training will play huge dividends for their units as we transition to the new software.”

Job postings at UNMC now are part of the new system. PAF coordinators and other administrators who work with position descriptions, postings and job offers are required to complete the training before working in the new systems. Of the 270 or so individuals who will need the training, more than 100 have completed it and have received a certificate for doing so. The training consists of UNMC-developed modules that can take between 20 and 40 hours, depending on user experience and skill.

Hiring managers who do not work directly with the system will be required to complete just four modules, Sirizzotti said. Any questions regarding training should be directed to this email for UNMC Human Resources.

“As with any change, there will be some new skills that employees will need to learn to best utilize the new system and all of its features,” Sirizzotti said. “We’re optimistic that at its full implementation, the new software will provide necessary integration not only within UNMC, but with our sister campuses, as well.”
