For the better part of the year, Nebraska Medicine has been working on a special documentary, designed to showcase the incredible work of the teams that make the transplant program possible.
This documentary represents a fraction of the time, expertise and the number of people involved in a transplant. For every person on screen, there are many, many more involved, and each of those people has a vital part to play. Like everything in health care, each transplant is centered around the program’s patients.
And of course, the med center’s transplant program would not be possible without the organ donors. For some, it’s a decision to be a living donor. That decision lets donors live to see their gift save and improve someone else’s life. For many others, it’s a decision they made during their life, to be carried out after they pass.
The first video below is a 10-minute video to provide the opportunity to learn more about organ transplantation through the words and experiences of several people who know it very well. It’s made an extraordinary impact on their lives.
