How I fell in love with emergency medicine:
I worked in a community emergency department as a tech and secretary while in medical school. This quickly biased me to the specialty. It also helps that I thrive on shift work, odd sleep schedules and being creative to find solutions to immediate problems.
Education
- BA/MD, six-year med program, University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine
Memberships:
- American Academy of Emergency Medicine
- American College of Emergency Physicians
- Wilderness Medical Society
- American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education
Three things people might not know about me:
- Snow skiing is my greatest vice. I would probably live in a van in a ski resort parking lot working as a lift operator or ski instructor if I wasn’t in medicine.
- I am a grade-A certified nerd. If anyone wants to talk Tolkien, high fantasy or any good book when we have a moment to breathe on shift, I am your guy.
- In my spare time, I like to go on adventures with my wife, Simran (hematology/oncology at UNMC), two kids and our German Shepherd. We just returned from Finland to hang at Santa’s Village over Christmas and New Year’s.
