UNMC Ice Rink concludes skating season

Due to the unseasonably warm weather, the UNMC Ice Rink has closed for the season.

The ice rink opened in 2009, made possible by a gift from Omaha philanthropists Ruth and Bill Scott as part of UNMC’s Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza. Over the last few years, the rink has undergone upgrades that include replacing piping and concrete and adding a new canopy that helps shade the space.

In addition to offering open skating time for the public, the ice rink held the popular Holiday Skate Day for the UNMC community during De-Stress Week, and the annual High School Alliance Skate Day.
