Register for the March 27 Pediatric Academic Workshop, organized by the Child Health Research Institute and UNMC Department of Pediatrics.
Held twice a year, the Pediatric Academic Workshops are designed to empower attendees with valuable research and scholarly skills, information and experiences. The March event will focus on the formation and management of research teams.
The agenda includes these topics and speakers:
- Keynote presentation: Jessica Snowden, MD, vice chancellor for research, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and former associate professor in the UNMC Department of Pediatrics.
- “Recruiting, Hiring and Onboarding your Research Team”: Lisa Runco, Jenny Mobley and Jackie Ostronic, of the UNMC Department of Pediatrics and Child Health Research Institute HR processes administrative team.
- “Mentorship and Working with Trainees”: Faye Haggar, EdD, director of the Children’s Nebraska Office of Education, and assistant professor, UNMC Department of Pediatrics.
- “Working with Clinical Research Offices” – Matt VanOrmer, PhD, senior research manager with the Child Health Research Institute.
- “Managing Effective Research Teams”: Mini talks followed by panel discussion from Howard Fox, MD, PhD, professor in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences; Ann Anderson-Berry, MD, PhD, executive director of the Child Health Research Institute and professor of neonatology in the UNMC Department of Pediatrics; Rebecca Gundry, PhD, professor and chair, UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology; and Don Coulter, MD, professor in the UNMC Division of Hematology/Oncology and director of the Pediatric Cancer Research Group.
The Pediatric Academic Workshop will take place at Children’s Nebraska from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
