The lecture will:
- Describe key terms related to migrant populations, including immigrant, refugee and asylum seeker, and how these classifications influence access to health care.
- Articulate principles of compassionate, trauma-informed care as they apply to the provision of health care and health education for refugee women.
- Identify common circumstances, health risks and forms of trauma experienced by refugee women that may impact maternal health outcomes and engagement with healthcare systems.
- Discuss evidence-informed strategies for implementing culturally responsive maternal health education for immigrant and refugee women.
