UNMC is currently accepting pre-proposals to select two nominees to submit full applications for the Falk Catalyst Research Award Program. To transition basic science insights into clinical practice, the Falk Medical Research Trust established this two-part program with linked awards:
- The Catalyst Research Award offers initial funding up to $350,000 for one to two years, aiding investigators in preparing for the Transformational Award.
- Successful awardees of the Catalyst Award can then apply for the Transformational Research Award, funding up to $1,000,000 for two to three years to aid the project’s progression towards commercial development.

- Mon, April 13, 2026 — Pre-proposals Due by 1:00 PM CT, Reviewed by Internal Committee
- Mon, April 27, 2026 — Two UNMC Nominees selected/notified to begin Full Applications
- Mon, June 1, 2026 — Full grant application released to SPAdmin for review
- Thur, June 4, 2026 — Full Applications Due to Falk by 2:00 PM ET
