In response to changes in Adobe’s licensing and pricing structure from the University of Nebraska Information Technology Services, NU ITS is updating how Adobe products are licensed across the NU system.
This updated licensing model will help NU continue to be good stewards of university funds while ensuring access to Adobe tools for those who rely on them for their work.
Through Monday, April 13, all currently Adobe licensed faculty, staff and students will continue to have full access to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
Beginning Tuesday, April 14, Adobe access will move to a new model that better aligns tools with how they are commonly used. Under this model, faculty and staff will have the following access:
- Adobe Acrobat Pro (automatically included for all current Adobe licensed faculty and staff):
- Continue to have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro for working with PDFs, including viewing, creating, editing, combining files and managing accessibility features.
- For many faculty and staff, Adobe Acrobat Pro is sufficient for day-to-day work.
- License cost is $18 per year.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (available by request):
- Faculty and staff who need advanced creative tools – such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro – can request a full Adobe Creative Cloud license.
- These tools are typically used for graphic design, video production, publications or other advanced creative work.
- License cost is $35 per year.
- Adobe Express (available by request):
- Adobe Express includes Firefly AI features and makes it easy to create professional-quality digital media content, such as graphics, presentations and social media assets.
- License cost is $3 per year.
To request access to Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe Express, submit the request form at this link.
- Search “Adobe”
- Select “Software/Application Request”
- Add cost center
- Application Type “Business”
- Select the Applications: Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Adobe Express.
UNMC ITS recommends submitting requests prior to April 13 to ensure uninterrupted access. If users do not need these tools now, they can submit a request at any time in the future should the need arise.
What to expect after requesting access:
- Requests can be submitted at any time and require supervisor approval.
- Access is automatically provisioned.
- Users will receive an email from Adobe confirming the license, typically within one to two hours.
Users still will log in at the Adobe website, and if prompted, can select “Company or School account.” After entering the user’s campus email address at the Adobe log in screen, they will be directed to log in using their email and network password.
By focusing licenses where they are most needed, NU and UNMC ITS are ensuring continued access to essential Adobe tools while supporting sustainable and responsible stewardship of university resources.
With questions, email IT Helps or call the Help Desk at 402-559-7700.
All currently licensed UNMC students will continue to have full access to Adobe Express. Adobe Creative Cloud licenses will be available by request for UNMC students who need them for coursework, research or creative projects.
