April 14 forum will highlight UNMC Better Processes Initiative

Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, and Susan Kraft Mann, associate vice chancellor for business and finance and director of budget and fiscal affairs

UNMC faculty, staff and students are invited to join Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, Tuesday, April 14, for this month’s all-campus forum highlighting UNMC’s “game-changing” efficiency initiative.

Dr. Davies will be joined by guests Susan Kraft Mann, associate vice chancellor for business and finance and director of budget and fiscal affairs, and Matt Singh, who recently was hired as director of Lean and process improvement in the UNMC Office of Business and Finance.

The all-campus forum will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 1005, on the Omaha campus. The forum also will be available via Zoom; the link can be found on the campus intranet.

The trio will discuss the new UNMC Better Processes Initiative, which is designed to enhance efficiency and satisfaction. Led by the UNMC Office of Business and Finance, the initiative soon will be implemented across UNMC and all its colleges, departments, institutes and other administrative units. The program will rely on “Lean” and “Six Sigma” methods to eliminate waste, streamline workflows and maximize value.

In announcing the program, Dr. Davies said: “This will not only improve efficiency and save on costs, but it will lead to greater satisfaction for faculty, staff and students; enhance staff engagement and retention; and strengthen our compliance and safety indicators.”

Questions may be asked during or before the forum. To ask a question in advance, email the UNMC Strategic Communications team. An American Sign Language interpreter will take part in the event.
