Get ready to put in some work during this year’s fourth annual For the Greater Good. Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to take on UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, in the Chancellor’s Push-Up Challenge.

The challenge will take place at noon on Wednesday, April 22, at the Wigton Heritage Center atrium to kick off this year’s giving day, which will be held from noon April 22 to noon April 23 to support students, programs, patient care, faculty, staff and health care professionals at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.

Think you’ve got what it takes? Register as a participant at this link before the 5 p.m. deadline today (April 17).

Here’s how the challenge will work:

  • Dr. Davies will set the number of push-ups to beat.
  • Participants will attempt to do more consecutive push-ups.
  • The top three performers will earn the following prize funding, which they can direct to a UNMC or Nebraska Medicine fund. (Student organizations are not eligible for this challenge.):
    • 1st place: $2,500
    • 2nd place: $1,500
    • 3rd place: $1,000

In addition to the Chancellor’s Push-Up Challenge, there will be two additional contests:

  • Student organization showdown
Student organizations will go head-to-head in a fast-paced push-up sprint for a chance to win prize funding for their group. Participants will complete as many push-ups as possible in 30 seconds. The participant with the most push-ups completed will win $1,000 for their student organization. Pre-registration required.
  • Loudest cheering section
Not competing? Colleagues, peers and department can join in with signs, costumes and energy — because there’s a prize for the group that shows up loudest and proudest.
