The UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research will host a research town hall on Thursday, May 28, featuring Agnes Lenagh, PhD, director of strategic partnerships in the UNMC Office of Industry Engagement.
Dr. Lenagh will discuss the role of industry engagement in supporting research growth and innovation at UNMC, including efforts to build strategic relationships with private industry that complement the university’s broader research mission and funding portfolio.
The UNMC Office of Industry Engagement is a new initiative within the UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research focused on cultivating partnerships that create new opportunities for collaboration, research and workforce development.
Ken Bayles, PhD, UNMC vice chancellor for research, also will provide an update on the current federal research funding landscape, including how the effects of ongoing grant-funding challenges are being felt by research institutions nationwide.
“Despite a challenging national funding environment, our research enterprise continues to demonstrate resilience and growth,” Dr. Bayles said. “We are actively pursuing new funding opportunities and investing in areas of strategic importance to ensure the foundation of UNMC research remains strong.”
Thursday’s town hall will run from noon-1 p.m. in the Durham Research Center Auditorium, Room 1002. The meeting also will be available via Zoom webinar through the link on this campus event listing.
