Introducing the newest cyber security awareness ally

Hoxhunt Logo

Nebraska Medicine and UNMC are adding Hoxhunt to their digital defense arsenal, marking a significant step in the organizations’ ongoing commitment to fortify cybersecurity and defense.

Beginning Wednesday, July 1, Information Security will deploy the new “Hoxhunt Report” button within the user’s email application. This will replace the existing “Phish Alert” button. If the button doesn’t appear within a few days after July 1, restart Outlook. Once installed, a welcome email from Hoxhunt (sent from welcome@Hoxhunt.com) will arrive in users’ inboxes, offering step-by-step guidance on initiating their training journey.

Why the change to Hoxhunt?

What sets Hoxhunt apart is its innovative approach to cybersecurity education. It turns learning into a game, making it engaging and enjoyable. As you progress through the training, you’ll earn stars and points, compete with colleagues, and track your progress on the Hoxhunt dashboard. To kickstart the training, it’s as easy as clicking the “Hoxhunt Report” button in response to the welcome email.

Does an email look suspicious?

Simply hit the “Hoxhunt Report” button to flag the email. If it’s not from Hoxhunt, you can quickly categorize it as phishing or spam. The UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Information Security team will take it from there.

Why security awareness matters

Cybercriminals are crafty, using both technical tricks and psychological tactics to trick unsuspecting individuals into aiding their schemes. Users’ vigilance is the best defense. By staying alert and reporting suspicious emails, it helps to build a stronger, more resilient human firewall.
