Webinar Description

This session will provide an overview of federal agency requirements before exploring how research security affects the work of research administrators throughout the sponsored project lifecycle.

The panel will discuss disclosures, institutional obligations, financial considerations, risk mitigation plans and the important role departmental administrators play in supporting compliance. The session also will address opportunities to strengthen relationships across institutions, potential impacts of forthcoming changes to Uniform Guidance and recent developments involving research security.

Learning Objectives 

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to: 

  1. Define research security and its purpose within the research enterprise.
  2. Understand federal and institutional drivers behind current research security requirements and their impacts across the lifecycle of a sponsored project.
  3. Recognize common research security topics, including foreign influence, international collaborations and disclosure requirements.
  4. Identify the role of research administrators in supporting investigators and promoting compliance.
  5. Navigate conversations with researchers about research security requirements with greater confidence.

Who Should Attend

The webinar is intended for research administrators, departmental administrators, grant managers, pre-award and post-award professionals, compliance staff and anyone who supports principal investigators and wants a practical understanding of today’s research security environment.

Registering for the Webinar

Please follow the steps below to register: 

  1. An NCURA account is required to register, you need not be a member to create a log in. If you do not have an account, please create one here: https://www.ncura.edu/Login.aspx

Look for ‘Create Non-Member Account’ at the top right-hand corner of the page. 

    2.  Log into the NCURA website.

3. Once logged in, use this link to view the event.

  • On the event page, click the green “Register” button in the upper right, then click “Complete Registration Now” 
  • On the next screen (Your Cart), click the green “Complete Registration” button.  
  • *SPA has paid the registration fee for our campus to participate – this is of no cost to you or your department 
  • Upon successful registration, you will see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation log in with the details for the event, please see details below. 

Logging In to the Webinar

Before joining the live streaming event, participants are encouraged to test their browser to confirm their computer is ready for the webinar.

  • Use a PC or Mac with an updated version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari.
  • Make sure pop-up blockers are disabled in your browser settings.
  • A wired internet connection is recommended for a more consistent signal and bandwidth.
  • Audio will be played through your computer, so make sure it is equipped with speakers.

Continuing Education 

Participants receive 1.5 hours of continuing education credit.

After completing the webinar evaluation, participants can access their certificate from the box on the right side of the webinar screen.
