Congressional candidate Denise Powell tours UNMC

Denise Powell

Denise Powell, a candidate running to represent Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District in Congress, visited UNMC on Aug. 17. The district includes Douglas County, Saunders County and areas of western Sarpy County.

Powell first met with Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, and Jeff Kratz, UNMC’s director of government relations.

She then received a tour of the Training, Simulation and Quarantine Center, which is housed inside the Davis Global Center. That tour was led by Dossy Felts, associate director of operations of the Global Center for Health Security.

Powell said she’s grateful for the work done and its impact on the community.

“This visit was a reminder of the incredible story Nebraska has to tell. The innovative work happening on this campus is a tremendous point of pride for our state,” Powell said. “The health of our communities and security of our nation are at the forefront of the work here —  investing in UNMC is a huge opportunity, not just for the state, but for the country.”
