UNMC Campus Engagement holds ‘Taco ‘Bout It’

UNMC Campus Engagement is inviting faculty, staff and students to “Taco ’Bout It” on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Linder Reading Room, Room 2001 in the Sorrell Center.

“Taco ’Bout It” is the campus engagement’s September quarterly pop-up, offering an informal opportunity to enjoy tacos, connect with colleagues and other students, and learn more about UNMC Campus Engagement programs, partnerships and opportunities.

Participants will select one of six small-group conversation topics:

  • Virtual learning and engagement
  • Campus Connection and Experiences
  • Partnerships and collaboration
  • Wellbeing and engagement (WE) challenges
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Connection corner and staying connected

During the conversations, UNMC Campus Engagement will share more about what the office currently offers, what has been heard and learned from participants, how feedback has helped inform the office’s work and what is coming next. Participants also will have an opportunity to share what is working, what could be better and what else UNMC Campus Engagement should know as it continues to strengthen its programs and experiences.

Space is limited to 30 participants, with five spots available for each conversation topic. Registration is required.

Sept. 13 webinar to address cardiovascular disease, dietary fiber

Registration is open for a Sept. 13th webinar focused on cardiovascular disease prevention and nutrition science. 

The webinar, titled “Cardiovascular Disease and Dietary Fiber, Clinical Outcomes and Interventions,” will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST and explore the emerging role of dietary fiber in cardiovascular disease, clinical outcomes and quality of life. 

Presenters include two UNMC faculty: Dan Anderson, MD, PhD, chief of cardiovascular medicine; and Corrine Hanson, PhD, director of the medical nutrition program and a fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Following the educational presentation, a panel discussion and Q&A will explore considerations for engaging dietary fiber in cardiovascular disease-related policy discussions.

UNMC Bookstore hours are changing

The UNMC Bookstore’s hours will be changing.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, store hours will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Bookstore management said the store will be able to make arrangements outside of those hours for any special events or if needed by faculty, staff and/or departments.
