Arts for Hearts event raises about $1,500

picture disc.About $1,500 was raised recently during the annual Arts for Hearts show and silent auction.

Arts for Hearts, sponsored by the C. Louis Meyer Foundation, is a show featuring works created by the children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities who participate in various Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) Recreational Therapy Programs. The show also featured pieces from other local artists.

Proceeds from the event will help support current and future programs for adults with developmental disabilities at MMI.

This year, two gingerbread houses decorated by children in the recreational therapy program were auctioned.

The gingerbread for the houses was made by Regency Lodge, a hotel near 107th and Pacific Streets, and donated to MMI.

Regency Lodge had a total of 15 gingerbread houses decorated by the children at MMI. The houses are on display and available for purchase in the lobby of the hotel.

All proceeds from the sales of those gingerbread houses are donated to MMI.
