A beauty of a day for Hustle for Hunger and chili cook-off

The forecast calls for sunshine and temps in the 50s when the “Hustle for Hunger” gets started today between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.

That’s pretty much perfect weather for a run or walk.

The conditions should be perfect for a trot around campus when the “Hustle for Hunger” starts this afternoon in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.
And for those who don’t want to run or walk in the “Hustle,” you’re welcome to come out and cheer and try some of the chili that will be served up during a cook-off held in conjunction with the run/walk. Employees from food and nutrition will be on hand with their best chili concoctions.

The Hustle for Hunger marks the kickoff of UNMC’s annual drive to collect food for the Food Bank of the Heartland, which runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 13. The goal is to collect six tons of food for the drive.

Participants can either complete a three-mile run or 1.5 mile walk. The event starts in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza and the course will run around the campus. See a course map.

To register, email unmcevents@unmc.edu. The registration fee is a donation for the food bank. Bring your donated items to the event.

All are welcome to participate! Water and snacks will be provided by Sodexo for those who participate.
