Families invited to trick-or-treat at MMI

MMI will host its annual trick-or-treat event on Oct. 22.

Pirates, princesses, and other costumed kiddos are invited to trick-or-treat at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

MMI’s sixth annual trick-or-treat event — slated for Sunday, Oct. 22 — is open to individuals with disabilities and their families.

“MMI is committed to inclusion. It’s critical for us to provide an accessible, fun and non-judgmental location to trick-or-treat,” said Jacqueline Hankins, administrative programs associate. “Our event focuses on removing barriers for families living with disabilities and to promote an environment of belonging.”

Hankins said she hopes to have 20 stations for trick-or-treaters to visit. Visitors can enter through the east entrance of the building, at 6902 Pine St., for the event. Trick-or-treating will be held across the first floor from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event previously had an outdoor “trunk-or-treat” format. This will be the second year the event has moved indoors. Last year’s event drew more than 500 families.
