As work continues on 42nd Street, motorists will see a few changes in the coming weeks:
- On Friday, June 6, Dodge Street to Farnam Street should be fully open to both north and southbound traffic.
- On Saturday, June 7, 42nd Street will have a further traffic restriction as roof repairs are completed to Williams Science Hall. The section of 42nd Street between Dewey Avenue and Emile Street will be closed for one day, starting at 6:30 a.m. and continuing until about 3 p.m. Access to Clarkson Tower will be open from Dewey Avenue. Hospital traffic heading north will be routed from 42nd and Emile streets to the east at 38th Avenue, then north along 38th Avenue to Dewey Avenue, then west along Dewey to Clarkson Tower.
- On Monday, June 9, southbound traffic on 42nd Street will close at Dewey Avenue as MUD continues working on the water main. Restrictions on northbound traffic are expected the week of July 7. The south entrance to Lot 5 parking garage will remain open during this time, and access to Clarkson Tower and Lot 1 will remain via Dewey Street.
Parking lot maintenance
On June 9, UNMC Parking Servies will begin annual maintenance work in several campus parking lots. The work, which includes concrete pavement, filling cracks and a section of mill and overlay, is expected to be completed by Aug. 1. The following lots will be impacted:
- Lot 16 Upper (concrete / filling cracks)
- Lot 16 Lower (filling cracks)
- Lot 17 East half (concrete / filling cracks)
- Lot 17 WAB (mill and overlay)
- Lot 20 (filling cracks)
- Lot 22 L (filling cracks)
- Lower STP (striping)
Parking services will apprise employees of any disruption to their day-to-day parking needs.
