UNMC’s Chief Compliance Officer Sarah Gloden Carlson, JD, has been named assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs, as of June 1, 2025.
With the appointment, Gloden Carlson has returned to UNMC fulltime; in addition, she will oversee Environmental Health and Safety, as well as continue to serve as UNMC’s chief compliance officer. Beginning July 1, she will hold a courtesy appointment as assistant professor in the department of surgery.
“Sarah brings a wealth of experience as chief compliance officer, along with extensive knowledge of UNMC and NU Board of Regents’ policies, making her an invaluable asset to our academic leadership team,” said Jane Meza, PhD, interim vice chancellor for UNMC Academic Affairs.
In being named assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs, Gloden Carlson will focus on faculty affairs.
“I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve UNMC in this capacity,” Gloden Carlson said. “I look forward to continuing to work with so many amazing colleagues at UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and across our University System. These are exciting times for our unversity, and I believe the best is yet to come.”
Gloden Carlson has served as UNMC’s chief compliance officer since joining the med center in 2016. From October 2022 to August 2024, she also served as assistant vice chancellor and director for human resources, before leaving those positions to pursue other opportunities.
Gloden Carlson most recently served as associate dean of academic affairs and professor of law at Creighton University. She also has worked at the University of Nebraska Foundation, where she was director of development for the UNMC College of Nursing; and at the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she was assistant dean and director of communications. She received her JD from the University of South Dakota School of Law.
