AI essentials course available for UNMC faculty, staff

UNMC faculty and staff can learn about artificial intelligence essentials for health care educators through a new Canvas course provided by UNMC IT Academic Technologies.

The self-enrolled, self-paced online course will offer a foundational knowledge in AI, offering health care educators practical applications for AI as an instructional support tool. A digital badge will be awarded upon course and assignment completion.

The course is comprised of seven learning modules covering:

  • The basics of AI.
  • AI in teaching and learning.
  • AI prompt engineering.
  • Preparing for AI in clinical practice.
  • The future of AI in education.
  • AI in research.
  • Extended learning resources.

“Before faculty can integrate AI into their curriculum, we first need to learn what it is and how to use it effectively,” said Mike Kozak, instructional designer in UNMC IT Academic Technologies. “This course will help prepare and empower faculty and staff in using AI.”
