Dr. Menning named Young Physician of the Year

Melanie Menning, MD, associate professor in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine, was selected as the Young Physician of the Year by the Nebraska Medical Association.

The Young Physician of the Year Award is given to a physician under age 40 who consistently achieves high standards in the practice of medicine and is a credible role model to peers, colleagues, and the community. This individual exceeds expectations through leadership, fosters the spread of medical knowledge, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and colleagues, and contributes substantially to their community through service and support.

The Nebraska Medical Association will celebrate award winners during the NMA Annual Membership Meeting and the Physician Appreciation Luncheon and Presidential Inauguration on Aug. 22 in Lincoln.

Pharmacy announces preceptors of the year

The UNMC College of Pharmacy has announced its preceptors of the year for 2024-25.

• Morgan Pritchard, PharmD, antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska, was named Preceptor of the Year.
• Bryan Health in Lincoln was named Preceptor Site of the Year.
• Nathan Sutera, PharmD, clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice and science, pharmacy coordinator, psychiatry, Nebraska Medicine, was named Faculty Preceptor of the Year.

Awards were presented at the college’s annual honors convocation ceremony. Preceptors are practicing professionals who oversee experiential learning at clinical sites across the state. These professionals are a vital component of preparing the state’s health care workforce.

Fall textbooks will be available at the UNMC Bookstore on Aug. 1. There are three ways to find a textbook at this link.

Starting Aug. 4, the regular hours will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays.
