How I fell in love with emergency medicine: I was drawn to emergency medicine because of its unique combination of breadth, pace and unpredictability. I love that each shift brings a wide range of cases and challenges that push me to think on my feet and adapt quickly. I deeply value and enjoy the privilege and responsibility of connecting with and advocating for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. I also appreciate the strong interprofessional collaboration that naturally comes with working in this environment.

Degrees:

  • Doctor of Medicine, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, 2020
  • BS, Kinesiology and Health, Iowa State University, 2016

Memberships:

  • American College of Emergency Physicians
  • Society for Academic Emergency Medicine
  • Interprofessional Academy of Educators

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I like to run, but anything beyond a half-marathon isn’t for me because I’m slow and get bored if I go much farther.
  • I love dogs and ended up dog sitting for a lot of my co-residents and colleagues during residency and fellowship.
  • I really enjoy building things with other people in education, whether it’s new projects, ideas or programs.
