Work is underway on the future home of the Grand Island Health Center.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Sept. 4 at the site, located at 3553 Prairieview Street in Prairie Commons in Grand Island, Nebraska. Nebraska Medicine leaders and Grand Island Health Center colleagues participated in the event.
The new health center will occupy levels two and three of this new, three-level, 66,000-square-foot medical office building. Services provided will include internal medicine, rheumatology, vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, cystic fibrosis, nephrology, infectious diseases, lab and X-ray.
“We are excited for our new, modernized space that will help us meet the needs of our community by allowing us to expand our services and strengthening educational opportunities for health care professionals,” said Isaac Berg, MD, co-medical director, Grand Island Health Center.
Jennifer Brown, MD, co-medical director, Grand Island Health Center, said, “The new Grand Island Health Center allows us to grow by expanding our team and services as needed, while enhancing patient access. It’ll be a great space, not only for us, but for the community as a whole.”
Nebraska Medicine is partnering with Chief Industries on the project. The project will be developed by Frankfort Square Partners, LLC, with Chief Construction serving as the construction manager.
“The groundbreaking ceremony was a great day, celebrating the future of Grand Island Health Center,” said Ali Vanis, clinic manager, Grand Island Health Center. “We can’t wait for the ribbon cutting and being able to open the doors.”
The new building is expected to welcome its first patients in April of 2027. Until then, the Grand Island Health Center will continue to operate at its current site, 729 N. Custer Ave.
