Employee engagement survey results shared

Linda Cunningham, assistant vice chancellor and director of UNMC Human Resources

An overview of results from the employee survey conducted earlier this year are being shared with the campus community.

More than 2,600 employees – a total of 52% of invited employees – completed the survey between April 15 and May 2.

Since that time, the consultant working with UNMC Human Resources – Engage2Excel – has compiled and analyzed results, providing top-level findings from across UNMC while also preparing the data to be disseminated to individual departments and units within UNMC.

The sharing of the dashboards to UNMC leaders will continue over the next several weeks, said Linda Cunningham, executive director of UNMC Human Resources.

“It’s important to note that most employees like their work, believe it makes good use of their skills and abilities, and provides a sense of accomplishment; they are proud to work at UNMC,” Cunningham said. “The survey also provided the campus with areas for improvement and growth, and we look forward to working with campus leaders to advance our engagement in all areas.”

Interim Chancellor Dele Davies, MD, said he wants to ensure that UNMC is a model for other workplaces locally and beyond.

“I truly want to thank those employees who participated in the survey and shared their viewpoints,” Dr. Davies said. “Employee feedback is essential in helping us understand the employee experience and identify opportunities for growth. I’m committed to listening, learning and making meaningful improvements together.”

Cunningham emphasized that the survey is one tool to measure engagement. She said that continuing communication and feedback between executives, administrators, colleagues and students will enable positive growth throughout UNMC.

Human resources will equip UNMC leaders with training, guidance and resources to assist in using the survey findings. Ultimately, they will use the survey data to analyze, interpret and move into action plans.
